Sewer Shark is one of the Sega CD's best-selling games, with more than 100,000 units sold prior to having been bundled with the system. Over 500,000 copies were bundled with the Sega CD, while non-bundled copies grossed about $18 million in retail sales. The game is on the Associated Press list of top ten video games from 1993. FMV games are flooded with bad examples, which sadly gives the whole format a bad rap. But in dismissing them in general one risks missing out on unique and charming experiences like these. I am not here to get on the Sega CD for its FMV quality. In all fairness, I feel that Cadillacs And Dinosaurs: The Second Cataclysm for the Sega CD is a pretty good-looking game. The story follows the show pretty well, has voice acting and there is quite a lot of cut scenes that move the story forward.

We all remember the infamous Night Trap, but do you remember this wild west alien shooter? Ground Zero: Texas, which was published by Sony Imagesoft for the SEGA CD, is about “A small desert town [that] has been infiltrated by alien body snatchers. As the head of a special army surveillance team, help identify and take out the aliens. Ground Zero Texas is I think the best FMV game on the Mega CD and an overall solid game for Sega's addon.

Sewer Shark is an FMV-based shooter, and one of the first games released for the Sega CD. You move a crosshair around the screen and shoot targets. Occasionally, you can also choose to change directions at fixed points.

The Sega CD was infamous for hilariously bad FMV games, but it brought us incredible CD soundtracks, the Lunar series, and the only English port of Snatcher!
